Uncertain Futures: Earth Matters, 2007. Clay, lime, plaster, plywood, varnish. 4' x 5'

Uncertain Futures - Earth Matters

This piece of work explores uncontrollability, randomness and the false security of western life styles. The highly varnished  plywood squares represent mans belief that he can contain nature yet the windows of evidence suggest other wise.  Urban and rural materials, clay, lime and plaster have been left to evaporate and fracture arbitrarily in an uncontrolled manner. Unpredicted events. Each square is moveable and can relocate. There is no certainty. No foreseeable order. Condolences surround the window.

  1. I like this - it too, may fall off the wall, piece by piece. It also shows how much we all need water, without it we too evaporate and fragment.
